PragmaHealth FAQs
What is Direct Primary Care (DPC)?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a membership‑based model where patients pay a monthly fee or a one‑time visit fee to access their primary care doctor directly—without using insurance for those visits. At PragmaHealth LLC we offer several service plans tailored to different needs:
Private Medical Care – US (Telehealth): For individuals who want flexible, timely service from a primary care physician via telehealth.
Direct Primary Care – Home Visits (Connecticut Only): For Connecticut residents who want the option of telehealth and/or in‑home visits by a physician. Availability in‑home is confirmed based on your location.
Medical Consultation (One‑Time Visit): For clients who prefer to pay for a single consultation rather than subscribe.
With any plan you choose, you receive ongoing access to your physician for telehealth visits, coordination of care (labs, imaging, referrals), and personalized attention—while labs, imaging, and prescriptions still go through external providers or your insurance.
Do I need health insurance to use PragmaHealth’s services?
No. We are a private-pay practice. We do not bill insurance, Medicare, or Medicaid. All services must be paid directly by the patient at the time of service or through a subscription.
That said, many clients maintain insurance, including high-deductible or catastrophic insurance plans for major diagnostics, hospital care or specialist services.
Can PragmaHealth bill my insurance for visits or services?
No — we do not bill insurance for our visit or membership fees. If you have insurance, you may use it for labs, imaging or prescriptions we order—but you must check with your insurance provider whether those services are covered under your plan.
Can I use an HSA (Health Savings Account) or FSA (Flexible Spending Account) to pay for PragmaHealth services?
HSA: Yes — under federal rules effective January 1, 2026, membership fees for DPC may qualify as HSA‑eligible medical expenses if you are enrolled in a qualified high‑deductible health plan (HDHP) and the monthly fee falls within federally prescribed limits. Please check with your HSA administrator to confirm eligibility.
FSA: Some FSA plans may allow reimbursement of DPC membership fees, but this varies by plan. You should verify with your FSA administrator.
What services are included with my PragmaHealth subscription or visit?
Your subscription or one‑time visit covers virtual or (where applicable) in‑home primary care consultations, ongoing care coordination, and longer doctor‑patient visits. We do not perform in‑house labs, imaging, or dispense medications. If you require those, we will order them for you and you will access them through external providers.
Does PragmaHealth offer same‑day or next‑day appointments?
Yes — we provide flexible telehealth scheduling, often offering same‑day or next‑day visits when needed. For our Connecticut home‑visit option, in‑home availability is subject to your location and our scheduling.
After-hours messages are available for urgent clinical concerns—but not for routine requests like appointment booking or refills.
How do I get labs, imaging, or prescriptions if needed?
We do not perform in‑house labs, imaging, or dispense medications. If you require those, we will order them for you and you will access them through external providers.
Your doctor can order labs, imaging and prescriptions on your behalf. You will then go to the lab, imaging center, or pharmacy of your choice. You are responsible for checking whether those services are covered by your insurance (if you have it), or paid out‑of‑pocket.
Will I be seen during an emergency?
No. PragmaHealth does not offer emergency or urgent care. If you experience a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room (ER).
